While you can use any stock pot to make Beef Stew, using a Dutch oven is ideal. There’s no need to buy an expensive pot – an old fashioned cast iron Dutch oven is best. The cast iron is heavy and retains heat well but won’t warp at sustained high heat like aluminum or stainless steel. Best of all they’re cheap – you don’t need an expensive pan because a properly cured cast iron pot will be as non-stick as any that has been coated.
