"The only time to eat diet food is while you're waiting for the steak to cook."
- Julia Child

The refrigerator light goes on...

This is a super simple and a flavorful steak dinner. If you can't find hanger steak, other great choices include sirloin, flank steak or filet. I used a beautiful fresh, yellow heirloom tomato for my salsa, giving the salsa a softer, sweeter flavor.

Mini Chopper

Mini choppers come in all shapes and sizes. Some are essentially small food processors, but for small chopping or slicing jobs I prefer to use my chef's knife. Mini choppers are perfect for small blending jobs and can keep you from having to haul out the Cuisinart or blender.

The mini chopper that I have was included with my stick blender and most manufacturers include a small chopper as part of a kit. This may cost an extra $10.00 or so but it is definitely worth having.

1 medium tomato (seeded and diced)
2 medium green onions (sliced crosswise)
1 small jalapeno pepper (seeded and minced)
1/4 tsp paprika

1/4 tsp sugar
1 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil

When ready to cook place a large skillet in the oven preheat to 375F or start the grill. Place the steak in the pan and cook for about 5 minutes on each side.
