About eatTHISdiet

You know what it's like to need to lose weight or eat healthier. There's an enormous amount of information on the Internet and in books about how to lose weight, but none of it really makes it easy.

My patients used to come to see me and when I would talk to them about how to eat healthy and lose weight, they would say, “Tell me what to eat.”

And like most doctors (I'm a board-certified internist), I would say something like, “Well, cut down on fats and saturated fat and reduce the amount of calories that you eat.”

Because I grew up in the restaurant business and am a chef, I know quite a bit about cooking and nutrition. I'd tell my patients about books and websites where they could get information about eating healthy, and occasionally I'd help them create meal plans. We would discuss fad diets and their pros and cons. I'd overwhelm my patients with information.

But it was only after a patient said to me, "Don’t tell me about all that! Just tell me what to eat!" that I finally got it.

That's when I created eatTHISdiet - The Comfort Food Diet. Using my low fat, low calorie, healthy recipes, I created a six-week eating plan using familiar comfort foods like Macaroni and Cheese, Hamburgers, and Pepperoni Pizza to help that first patient lose weight by eating healthy. It worked so well for her that soon other patients were asking me for their own eatTHISdiet meal plan! Dozens of my patients helped me refine the diet so that it'll fit into your busy lifestyle. It's flexible, easy to use, and best of all, no more cooking one meal for yourself and one for the rest of the family.

Timothy S. Harlan, M.D.Almost every day I have patients ask me what they should weigh and how much they need to lose. I will admit that sometimes I am a bit evasive, saying such things as “Start working on your weight and I’ll tell you when to stop.”

Why am I not always more direct? Because folks can often be pretty unrealistic about their health and their weight. Usually people are shocked when I tell them what an ideal weight would be for them. While shock is their first reaction, folks usually say something like “Oh, I’ll do that, it’s easy for me to lose 50 pounds and you’ll see when I come back in three months.”

Man oh man, do I wish I had a dollar for every time someone said that (and another dollar for those who return in three months and have not lost any weight at all). I have no doubt that this mentality comes from fad diet books and pills that repeatedly advertise about how people can easily lose that much weight in such a short period. Realistic Goals
