Ask Dr. Gourmet

What kind of salt should I use for weight loss?

What type of salt (maybe sea salt), do you recommend to use for weight reduction, reducing blood pressure, and healthy eating?

Dr. Gourmet Says...

grains of salt in a clear glass jar

It's clear that diets that are high in sodium lead to health problems including high blood pressure and heart disease.

There's no special salt for weight reduction. Salt is salt is salt. The key to controlling your sodium intake is to always measure the salt when cooking, look for recipes that have less salt and work to decrease the amount you consume in prepared foods.
