Ask Dr. Gourmet

Calories for a lumberjack?

How many calories can an active, 6'2", 250 lbs. lumberjack eat in a day?

Dr. Gourmet Says...

At 6'2" you might be considered overweight, but if you are more muscle than fat your weight may be just right. The baseline calories for you doing normal day to day activity would be in the neighborhood of 2200 - 2500 calories. This goes up if you are burning more calories -- as you would likely do as a lumberjack. Depending on how active you are this could go much higher.
