Ask Dr. Gourmet

Is Iodoral safe for Coumadin (warfarin) users?

Is there an interaction between warfarin and Iodoral, an iodine potassium iodide?

Dr. Gourmet Says...

There's very little written on Iodoral and interaction with Coumadin® (warfarin). Unless Iodoral is a supplement that has been specifically recommended by your physician you may wish to avoid it. There are a lot of claims made about this and other supplements that are not well founded in science. Checking with your doctor about whether he or she feels that a particular supplement fits into your therapy is very important.

Thanks for writing,
