Ask Dr. Gourmet

Where can I find edamame?

Your recipe for Ginger Chicken calls for frozen soybeans (edamame). Where in the world can these be found? They don't seem to be in any supermarkets in the Northeast. Any ideas?

Dr. Gourmet Says...

Edamame (soybeans)

Edamame (soybeans) are more widely available than they used to be and can be found in most supermarkets. I have seen them in Giant, Safeway, and Food Lion in the Northeast, in Winn-Dixie and Rouse's in the South, in Vons and Safeway on the West Coast, and in Whole Foods stores nationwide.

Often you will find these in the "organic" or health food section of a store.

Thanks for writing,
