Ask Dr. Gourmet

Does resveratrol interact with Coumadin (warfarin)?

I have been hearing a lot about the positive affects of Resveratrol. Could I take that supplement along with Coumadin?

Dr. Gourmet Says...

There's no evidence at all that resveratrol is beneficial. None, nada, zip. There is some research that indicates foods containing resveratrol may offer benefit but that's not conclusive.

The people who are selling resveratrol in supplement form are quite simply frauds. They are crooks and thieves and only interested in taking your money. Don't give it to them. There are, in fact, almost no supplements that have been shown to be beneficial for your health. Great quality food has been proven time and again to be the choice you want to make.

Regarding taking any supplements with Coumadin®: do not take anything without checking with your physician.
